For the fifth year, lovers of bluegrass music will gather under the trees in Rosholt to attend the 5th Annual Bluegrass in the Pines Bluegrass Festival on August 21-23.
This year the show is expanding to include music on Thursday as well as Friday and Saturday. Music will begin at 8:00 pm on Thursday night with admission just $10 for that night. The hours for Friday and Saturday are 12:00 noon to 12:00 midnight each day with admission $15 each day. There are no advance ticket sales – the tickets will e available at the gate.
The host band this year is Art Stevenson & High Water, Wisconsin’s best-known bluegrass band. They will perform on each day of the event. Other performers include Feller and Hill & the Bluegrass Buckaroos, an award-winning Kentucky bluegrass band (Friday); Larry Gillis and Swampgrass Band, a hard-driving traditional Georgia bluegrass band (Friday and Saturday); Tommy Brown & County Line Grass, a mountain-style bluegrass band from Kentucky (Thursday only), The High 48s, the RockyGrass band competition winners from Minnesota (Friday and Saturday); Sloppy Joe, central Wisconsin’s own neo-old-time string band (Friday and Saturday); Horseshoes and Hand Grenades, Stevens Point’s energetic and popular string band (dates TBD); and the Fish Heads, Duluth’s own popular bluegrass stars (dates TBD). More bands will be added as the event approaches.
Once you get to the Rosholt Fair Park, you probably won’t want to leave. That’s okay because there are plenty of food and drink vendors on the grounds. Breakfast will be served in the 4-H building in the mornings on Friday and Saturday. Camping is $5 per person per night, and electric hook-ups are just $20 per site per night. To reserve a campsite with electricity, call Christ Martin at 715-572-4758.
All shows will take place under a large tent, rain or shine. Bring your own lawn chairs, and a dancing area will be provided.
