You are invited to join local artists, musicians, community leaders, local businesses and friends for a night of giving back to your community and helping to make a difference in the lives of thousands of families. On October 4, 2014, the second annual Band Together fundraiser to support the important work of Parent Connection.

Last year alone, Parent Connection provided 5,693 home visits to 632 families with first time parents, teaching valuable parenting skills while insuring that their newborns were developing at age appropriate levels and had a nurturing home. In addition, another 3,050 parents participated in workshops designed to further enhance parenting skills.

Parent Connection’s work has proven to help prevent child abuse by reducing the stressors that can lead to abusive behavior.

According to lead organizer and volunteer Jessica Johnson, the work of Parent Connection not only impacts lives, it saves money. “For every $1 we invest in prevention programs like Parent Connection, we will save $10 in future treatment costs.”

Band Together: A Parent Connection Fundraiser will be Saturday October 4th from 6:00 to 11:00 at the beautiful and historic Algoma Club. Musicians for the evening include: The Jazz Orgy with Erin Krebs; Kurt Stein and The Conspiracy; and Kurt Stein’s School of Music. There will also be live glass blowing demonstrations from Dungeon Lamp Works. The fine cuisine of Manila Resto and Piloras Café will be available through out the evening, as well as a cash bar. To help raise some much needed funding for Parent Connection families in need there will also be a fabulous raffle to take part in. Also, the ever-animated Dale DeVries will be your MC for the evening! Cost is $5 at the door.

According to Johnson, “It is very important that we work to help people in our own community, striving to make it better.”
