Gobblefest celebrates it’s “sweet sixteenth” the night before Thanksgiving, Wednesday, November 26th at The Shack in Fond du Lac.

sep-ways“Sixteen years of rockin’ bands and giving back to Fond du Lac,” says event organizer and 96-1 WTCX general manager, Terry Davis, “over $65,000 has been raised over the 15 previous years, and the money in turn is contributed to local causes including the Relay for Life Cancer benefit.”

The night before Thanksgiving is traditionally a big bar night, with everyone home for the holiday.

“Thanksgiving has always been about getting together and giving back,” Davis said. “Gobblefest grew out of the night before Thanksgiving tradition that drew so many to the old Copper Kettle tavern on Winnebago Drive in the 80’s and 90’s. Hundreds of college students would return home that night and want to get together with their old friends. When the Kettle came down, there was a natural desire and reason to create an event to get those folks together, and Gobblefest was born.”

Sponsored by Miller Light and Mike’s Music and Sounds, Inc. Gobblefest-16 will welcome from Green Bay the Journey tribute cover band, Separate Ways.

Davis said, “Separate Ways has been described as a band with ‘an arsenal of talent and experience to recreate not only the music of Journey, but their feel, and their heart and soul of what truly defines Journey. I’ve heard’em, and they’re great!”
Following Separate Ways, Fond du Lac’s own high energy band, Boogie and the Yo-Yo’s headlines.

“Boogie has played in this area since the mid-90’s,” Davis said “but their sound continues to evolve and surprise. Not a rock band, not a country band, not a pop band, Boogie and the Yo-Yo’s is an everything band – whatever your musical taste, they have something for you.”

Boasting a 3 piece horn section, they play a wider variety of music without sacrificing quality, throw in choreography and a the crowd goes wild!
