The Family Fun and the Arts & Crafts areas are Octoberfest destinations in their own right
When you’ve had all the food and beverage you care to consume (for now anyway), there’s still a lot to see and do at Octoberfest.
Start with the Arts & Crafts Show, which stretches along College Avenue from Durkee Street to Lawe Street, with vendors displaying on both sides of the street from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
There are more than 180 vendor spaces, staffed by artisans and craftspeople selling handcrafted wares they’ve produced either themselves or customized.
Vendor products will include paintings, handcrafted jewelry, natural handcrafted soaps, handcrafted apparel, home décor, needlework, ceramics, leather crafts, folk art, embroidery, lawn art, log furniture, pottery, stained glass, hand-woven baskets, metal garden art, wooden toys and copper sculptures.
“Many vendors welcome early sales while they are setting up. If you come early, please be patient as they may still be getting products out for display,” according to Jennifer Stephany, executive director of Appleton Downtown Inc.
Fun for the Family
The Family Fun area is located on the east end of College Avenue at the corner of College Avenue and Drew Street. Families will find kid-friendly entertainment all day, starting at 9 a.m.
The Family Fun area in the past has featured balloon creations and inflatable toy vendors, face painting, play systems by Rainbow, balloon animals, magicians, jugglers, karate demonstrations, clowns, Kids’ Carnival Corner Games, Kiddie Carnival Rides and safety tips from the Appleton Fire Department, as well as roving and stage entertainment throughout the day.
